If you have been offered a tuition fee-paying or Dfee place
This means you pay your fees upfront to QUT. However, you may be eligible to apply for the Commonwealth FEE-HELP loan scheme for assistance with paying your tuition fee to QUT.
Am I entitled to FEE-HELP?
You may be able to use FEE-HELP if you:
- are undertaking study at QUT
- are an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian Permanent Humanitarian visa
- are enrolled in an eligible unit of study on the census date
- are not Commonwealth supported in relation to that unit
- are able to provide a Tax File Number (TFN)
- have not exceeded the FEE-HELP limit.
To get FEE-HELP, you must submit a 'Request for FEE-HELP assistance' form and provide a valid Tax File Number (TFN) for the unit of study or the course of study of which the unit forms a part, on or before the census date of the teaching period of your enrolment. You submit your FEE-HELP form electronically in QUT Virtual. If your online submission of the form is successful, you will receive an email confirmation.
For Tax File Number information contact the Australian Taxation Office. If you have not received your TFN by 10 days prior to the census date, you may provide QUT with a copy of your Certificate of Application for a TFN.
A loan fee of 20% will apply to FEE-HELP loans for undergraduate courses of study. This fee is applied to the amount of FEE-HELP assistance that you receive for the unit. The loan fee does not count towards your FEE-HELP limit.
Degree fee paying (Dfee) students who wish to be Commonwealth supported should access the Dfee information on progressing from a Dfee to a Commonwealth supported place (CSP).
Students undertaking non-award studies (certificates, diplomas and visiting) are not eligible to defer their tuition fees to FEE-HELP.
Submitting your Commonwealth support form online
You should access the Government's goingtouni web site for further information about the various requirements of FEE-HELP before submitting your FEE-HELP form.
Failure to submit your 'Request for FEE-HELP assistance' form and/or provide a valid TFN by the census date of the teaching period will mean that you will be financially liable and have to pay for the unit(s) upfront.
Note:
- Failure to submit your Request for FEE-HELP form and/or provide a valid TFN by the census date of the teaching period will mean that you will be financially liable and have to pay for the unit(s) upfront.
- If you withdraw from a unit or from the course prior to the census date, you may be liable for a late cancellation charge. This charge must be paid to QUT and cannot be deferred to FEE-HELP.
- You can avoid the late payment penalty fee by completing the Request for FEE-HELP Assistance form prior to the payment due date on your Statement of Account. Late payment penalty fees must be paid to QUT and cannot be deferred to FEE-HELP.
For more information refer to key dates – all fee dates are available using the search function.
You must complete a new Request for FEE-HELP form if you change your course, for example if you progress from a Graduate Certificate to a Graduate Diploma to a Masters course, or if you have been readmitted to the same course following approved or unapproved absence.
